About

My name is Julian Yon. I'm a neuro-atypical computer scientist and musician born in the 1970s. I am an anarchist of no specific school of thought. I'm disabled (chronically ill) with two children. My religious views are non-mainstream, but I label myself as a Christian Skeptic. If you are nosey enough to want to know about my day-to-day life, you should read my personal blog. Occasionally I get annoyed enough at nonsense on Wikipedia that I actually bother to do something about it.

Contact

I am most obviously reachable by email; as this is inherently insecure I advise encryption for anything of a sensitive nature. Please use my annual key for this purpose. You can find more information about my public keys below.

If you prefer less formal contact, I often hang out on Twitter. I have accounts on Google+ and identi.ca, but I rarely use them.

If you are looking for a way to support me and my family, you can do so via Flattr. Look for the “Flattr this” link on content pages, or you can make a donation. If you are feeling particularly generous and would like to give a larger amount than Flattr will allow, or if you'd prefer not to use Flattr at all, please get in touch.

House Rules

Due to disability, my primary contact with the outside happens online. This makes the virtual world, and a safe place within that world, especially important. It has sadly become necessary to make clear certain social boundaries.

I am sorry to have to be explicit about all this, but people who should know better continue to take liberties and I must protect my mental health.

OpenPGP Info

Please contact me if you need to verify my keys. My key signing policy is “convince me”. If I've known you for 20 years, you turn up in person with ID, and I'm able to verify your email address then you should have no trouble with this. If I've never met you and you just send me a random DM then you're not going to get very far.

I have three signing keys: “high assurance” means I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt of the owner's identity; “low assurance” means I believe on the balance of probability they are who they claim to be; “medium assurance” lies somewhere inbetween. This allows me to be flexible in my approach to verification, while not requiring everyone to agree with me. As always, you should apply your own judgment in assigning trust levels to these keys.

This is my identity. All my other keys are signed by this one. If you believe who I am, then this is the key to certify:

fingerprint = DF82 0B67 70AC A747 53E6  2629 F8AA 4574 3C01 1D85

This key will be used for signing/encrypting mail during 2013:

Accessibility

Accessibility is an issue of great importance to me. As a matter of course I test all websites on the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox, Chromium (aka Google Chrome), and Lynx (for compatibility with very basic browsers). If you encounter problems using any of my sites with a free, standards compliant browser, or with a particular access technology, I encourage you to contact me. If you encounter problems using Internet Explorer or another non-free browser, I recommend you explore the alternatives.
